From Janelle's Desk
Many businesses look upon temporary staffing purely as a means of plugging holes in their workforce. Yes, that is what it started out as – as a means to fill an unexpected vacancy or to replace someone on a long leave of absence. But today temporary staffing is a major industry that adds value to a business. At
Locate Staffing we look upon ourselves as partners in our clients' progress and our services are designed to support their growth.

Temporary employees are not only stop gap arrangements, the system offers much more.

• Temporary staff can be available at short notice to meet unexpected workplace demands.

• There are no legal or ethical issues involved in letting a temporary employee go without notice when his or her services are no longer required.

• Temporary staff is more economical. There are no benefits to be factored into the employment cost.

• Temporary employees know that their success, in the short or long term, is dependent on their attitude and this motivates them to follow a good work ethic and make a good impression. A temporary employee can never afford to be complacent.

• Temporary staffing agencies offer different levels of qualification, experience skills so you can find the right fit for your needs.

• This means that when a business issue or opportunity demands the immediate deployment of skilled personnel that may not be available in house, temporary staffing offers a "hit the ground running" solution.

• When a business takes on a full time employee, references, interviews and evaluations can only indicate the suitability of the candidate for the position. Often the on the job performance is not what is expected. With temporary staffing a business can find the people they need, evaluate their performance on the job and then, if found suitable, make them full time. This takes away the risk associated with a new hire.

• Because of the wide range of experiences that temporary employees have, they can often bring a new perspective or improved way of doing things to the places where they work.

Don't look at temporary employees as just a way of plugging holes in your workforce. The modern concept of temporary staffing offer much more. If you would like to explore the various way you can use temporary staff to grow your business, contact us and we will be happy to not just explore options and opportunities with you but to also work with you to implement the most result oriented and cost effective solutions. A long term relationship with a temporary staffing company can be a major resources that can benefit a business in a variety of ways.

Until next month...

People Ready Companies

Management Philosophies and focuses run in cycles. A few years ago Marketing was the "hot" subject. Then it was Finance. Today it is Human Resources. Everyone realizes the importance of people. Some companies have started to list their staff as an asset on their balance sheets. Buzzwords are flying around. Microsoft talks of the "people ready company."

This is an interesting concept. It implies that the company must be ready to grow and utilize its people to the maximum. Actually, there is nothing new in this. It is just a rewording of the old concept that when a company expands, it must be ready to allow for the growth of its people to meet the new demands.

But this overlooks the issue of what makes a company grow? Is it the machines / services, the marketing / selling, the finance? Yes to all. But what drives these activities? The people. It is only when people develop that the quality of their output increases and allows the company to grow. Would it not be fair to reject the concept that people grow when the company grows? Is it not more accurate to say that when people grow, the company grows? Rather than talk of "people ready companies", should we not be talking of companies that people made ready?
